Re: MZ-700 correct filter capacitors for PSU

Ahem, fuses are for that. Those old caps due to their "paper" conception ALWAYS blow and catch fire after a decade, not because they are used as fuses. Think again. This is defense in depth. Safety capacitors are both for EMI / RFI supression, and also to ensure that equipment fails in a ...

Re: MZ-700 correct filter capacitors for PSU

the reason why you should replace them is that they are safety capacitors, they are supposed to blow before the equipment gets damaged or catches fire.

Re: MZ-80B project (Floppy Disk I/O Card cloning!)

Hmm, I wonder if the original chips are available?
And also, does anyone have the physical measuremnts and layout of the card?

Re: Sharp MZ Hardware Emulator on MiSTer

Re: MZ-80B project (Floppy Disk I/O Card cloning!)

- where in the address map does it live?
- are the routines in there compatible with the MZ80B ROM routines?
So just more work for you, I'm afraid.

Re: MZ-80B project (Floppy Disk I/O Card cloning!)

There are several "layers" of compatibility requirements, like (this is not an exhaustive list): - mechanical - does the card physically fit into the connector on the machine? - electrical / signals - does the machine have the signals that the card requires (and vice versa) on the correct ...
