RGB output

Sorry I haven't been that active on here of late but I was looking at the MZ-700 again last night and thought its about time I got a decent image out of it. Does anyone know what type/size of din connector is on the rear for the RGB connection? And also is there a pin out for this handy?

Re: Mz700 repair project

I might be better leaving well enough alone then. Its done nothing but rain here and the forecast is not good for the coming days so I've time to mull it over but last thing I need is to loose the lettering.

The machine works again so for now maybe I should concentrate on some software.

Re: Mz700 repair project

I spent some time over the weekend and got the power supply finished (fitted with new filter caps), cleaned up the underside of the board and removed the short on the read jack, repaired the keyboard again (replaced the ribbon with xh type connectors but not without problems) and reassembled with a ...

Re: Mz700 repair project

An absolute gent my good sir. I've replied to your e-mail as I haven't been around much the last couple of days. I've ordered 2 10 pin (couldn't find 20 pin) XH right angle connectors with a pre-wired 20cm lead from each. Might be a week before I get them but we'll get this old machine working soone...

Re: Mz700 repair project

You must also disconnect the datarecorder's read/write signal from the 8255 when doing this. Instead of modifying the motherboard you could make a short cable between the motherboard and datarecorder, and do the switching there. Good idea. But I've hit another road block. I tried a jumper cable las...

Re: Mz700 repair project

Good point on the key, better to get the design correct so it can be used over and over again easily. Thinking about the external read/write ports further would it be feasible to solder in a wire permanently on the underside of the board to link pins 2 and 8 for read and pins 1 and 7 for write. Coul...

Re: Mz700 repair project

Hmmm, I see you are correct as.per the schematic I'd need to jumper pins 2 and 8 but I could of swore I read somewhere that the 711 model did not need this. Perhaps when originally sold without the inbuilt tape drive there was a jumper in here making this contact that someone removed when fitting th...

Wanted: Software for MZ-700

As per my MZ-700 repair project thread I'm looking to get some tapes to try on the machine as I'm struggling to get anything to load with the MZF2WAV software. Firstly and foremost I'm looking for a copy of BASIC but I will also consider any games etc. I'm in the UK just so people know in terms of p...

Re: Mz700 repair project

Fantastic work with the keys. I haven't had much of a chance the last few days to do anything on the MZ-700 but I thought I'd take an hour last night and actually try to run something on it. Nothing is ever simply though and problems... I don't own any tapes so I used the MZF2WAV program and convert...
