Re: [MZF] MZ7: MZF file compressor using ZX7 algorithms

Hi, you can not use the comment area of the tape header to store the decoder as some programs already have their own machine code stored there. A better place to store the decoder is the keyboard buffer at $11A4 ($11A3 set to $0D). Same place on the K, A, 700 and the 800 in 700 mode. You will need t...

Re: MZ-80A / MZ-80K extra RAM

If you want faster video ram access you can always modify the hardware to use the HBL instead of the VBL you get 25 HBL / 1 VBL.
On the MZ80K this effected the keyboard input routine and you got about 20 characters per keyboard press not very helpful.

Re: How can I convert PAL to NTSC on the MZ-700?

Hi, as the MZ700 was a Japanese machine NTSC output but they also sold it with PAL output. If you look at the MZ700 service manual the PAL jumper goes to the LSI chip and it changes the video synch pulses from PAL to NTSC. On page 6 is the instructions use NTPL choose PAL OR NTSC. I found on the MB ...

Re: 80 columns on MZ700

I have look at my 80-column design and there are 2 options to cure the small dot problem caused by the faster modern chips. 1) increase the number of gates in the delay chain (the XOR gates have 2 times the delay as the invertors) we need 27nS so 3 spare XOR gates wired as buffers is 6 delays about ...

Re: CP/M on the MZ-80A

Hi , CP/M 2.2 or 2.3 for the MZ80-A is configured for a 40 column screen. If you have a MZ80-A fitted with the Kuma 80/40 column moderations there are 2 com files that switch the mode to the selected screen size allowing programs that require 80 column to run as intended. The Kuma 80/40 moderations ...

Re: Creating a sharp MZ80k Basic master disk (or any other disk)

There was a series of programs in the Sharp User Club libraries called Super Copy Plus (S_Copy). It is a single/multi program copier from tape to disk, disk to tape, disk to disk using wild cards. It could also copy disks, single or 2 drives, and extra feature including backing up the disk to tape a...
