Re: Introduction

Welcome to the forum! Not a bad idea having an introduction topic. - male - 1974 also! - southwest uk My MZ-80A was my 2nd computer (after the ZX-81). I was pretty young when it came out so didn't make a whole load of games myself. I used to type out all the BASIC programs in the manual and loved pl...

Re: Star Avenger

Oh sorry, don't know how I missed that attachment!! I'll check it but usually the 80A just 'ignores' the colour memory reads/writes and the rest of the game could work. It worked okay with Send-1 and Land Escape although the games run a little slower as it's a 2Mhz CPU on the 80A as opposed to the 3...

Re: Star Avenger

That looks excellent! Do you think it'd run on the 80A? (And do you have an MZF ? ;) )

Re: LFSR

Yep, it's simply a case of loading the symbol #LFSR with a 16-bit value to start off the number generation process

Re: Gaming

That was the 80K. There may even have been a mod to fix that for 80Ks. The 80A had no such problem ;)

LFSR

Hi, I wanted to generate 1000 numbers in a random non-repeating order (ranged between 1 to 1000) and have been given this code which is a linear feedback shift register: LD IX,#LFSR ; (2-byte store) SRL (IX+00) RR (IX+01) RET NC LD A,(IX+00) XOR #0x02 LD (IX+00),A LD A,(IX+01) XOR #0x40 LD (IX+01),A...

Re: Gaming

That is true! But I like the better / faster screen updates of machine code games. You only have to look at Lunar Lander on the 80K / 80A..... quite laborious waiting for that rocket to scroll across the screen !! :)

Gaming

Gaming on the MZ is interesting. If you go back as far as the MZ-80K, a lot of the games were just written in BASIC and pretty simplistic. Even through to the 80A. It seemed much rarer and more interesting if a game had been written in machine code. Even the games tape that came with the computer ha...
