Re: Mz700 repair project
I have seen several retrobrighted 700's where the lettering is almost gone.

Re: Mz700 repair project
Good work, another MZ brought back to life. Careful with retrobrighting it, looks like the key lettering fades just as quickly as the yellowing on the MZ-700.

Re: CP/M on the MZ-80A
While cp/m works on 40 column screens, it's not very usable. Most cp/m applications expects an 80 column display, smaller displays either requires some sort of virtual screen with horizontal scrolling, or some fiddling with application setup to adapt to the smaller screen.

Re: CP/M on the MZ-80A
I know I need an 80 column modification that SUC appears to be able to provide (either as a board or design materials so I can make my own) but I've seen no details of this. There seems to be several articles about this modification in the SUC magazines. https://www.sharpmz.no/sharp-users-club-maga...

Re: Mz700 repair project
I can't remember which of the arrow keys you needed, but don't worry if it's not arrow right, they are all identical.

Re: Mz700 repair project
To remove the board I obviously had to remove the keyboard again but my problems with the keyboard connector on the board continued (if you watched the 2nd video you'll understand) and this time as well as pulling out some pins again its cracked the connector on the board and the bent pins have dam...

Re: Mz700 repair project
Could I then fit a switch to reverse these so pins 1 and 8 are linked and 2 and 7 are linked that would in theory allow me to record WAV files from the PC onto a tape using the deck and vice versa? You must also disconnect the datarecorder's read/write signal from the 8255 when doing this. Instead ...

Re: Mz700 repair project
Hmmm, I see you are correct as.per the schematic I'd need to jumper pins 2 and 8 but I could of swore I read somewhere that the 711 model did not need this. Perhaps when originally sold without the inbuilt tape drive there was a jumper in here making this contact that someone removed when fitting t...

Re: Mz700 repair project
Fantastic work with the keys. Thanks, but the arrow key needs a lot of refinement to look good. The MZ keys looks simple, but if you study them more closely you'll see that they curve in just about every direction and it's not easy to create an exact match. I don't own any tapes so I used the MZF2W...
