Re: Sharp MZ Hardware Emulator on MiSTer

Ah Sorgelig... he's not known as a diplomatic person. If he's not interested in something, it's an impasse. Recently, there were clashes between him and big contributors even when they usually refrain to do so. So, if I undestand well, you will keep MiSTer menu minimalistic and have a ZPU to handle ...

Re: Color GAL5, color board for MZ80KC/1200

Ahh ok, I was expecting to read "The spelling of ['color' and not the spelling of 'colour'] is the American spelling".

Re: Color GAL5, color board for MZ80KC/1200

Weird... I would expect for US spelling to be "color" and UK spelling to be "colour" like for "behavior (US)/behaviour (UK)". You're kind of saying the contrary here...

Re: Color GAL5, color board for MZ80KC/1200

The advantage of using D7 and D3 in attribute byte is that you can pick up to 1024 characters on the same display (supposedly you fit your set in SRAM and you can alter it, you can do 320x200 graphics). That's another reason I'm not sure having European and Japanese characters in the same 1024-chara...

Re: Color GAL5, color board for MZ80KC/1200

Just as an example for my 1024-character set board in my MZ-700 (using D3 to expand a 512-character set into double). I added that 256-character set as semigraphics 4-level 2x2 blocs: mz-700 CGROM-G.png I always found the original 16 "2x2 square dot" blocks ugly. The character format is: D...

Re: Color GAL5, color board for MZ80KC/1200

MZ-80 A: I was unaware of that information. But the color format from the color display connector is just 8 plain bits with non specific meaning. It is up to you to decide what to do with those D0-D7. The page you posted probably concerns a color board they did which has that interesting color lever...

Re: Color GAL5, color board for MZ80KC/1200

That's weird. From your page, the color format is: Bit Function 0 Background Blue 1 Background Red 2 Background Green 3 Character ROM Bit 0 4 Foreground Blue 5 Foreground Red 6 Foreground Green 7 Character ROM Bit 1 From MZ-700 manual: Bit Function 0 Background Blue 1 Background Red 2 Background Gre...

Re: Sharp MZ Hardware Emulator on MiSTer

For the HDMI part, you need to use the new custom HDMI (i.e, not the old IP which is not free). Most cores are moving to that new free HDMI.

Re: Color GAL5, color board for MZ80KC/1200

Hi, psmart. Your version is almost compatible with MZ-700. The color data matches the one for MZ-700, except for one thing: the font selector bits. Not a big deal since you can fix through your expanded CGROM. The order for a MZ-700 compatible font selection would be: Slot Attribute Bits 7,3 U9 Latc...
