Re: Myself - and some questions
With the actual CGROM? only two colors. But with my prototype extending CGROM to 1024-character font (using D3 in attribute VRAM to select between two 512-character fonts), I created a 256-semigraphics with "4 grey levels": mz-700 CGROM-G.png Nonetheless there is a trick to use character s...

Maybe ask the questions on the FB groups, you'll probably get more answers there: https://www.facebook.com/groups/sharp8bitmz

Re: Myself - and some questions
- MZ-700 was mainly done for MZ-80 K nostalgia by offering colors and more RAM. - MZ-800 has CGRAM in 700 mode which allows to reprogram characters - MZ-1500 has PCG ability which even allows multi-color characters It seems you haven't MZ-2500 (SuperMZ) in your list. "Clean computer" conce...

MZF Studio: can convert MZF <-> WAV.
There are other ways but I guess it is the simpler method here.

Re: a short self-introduction
Welcome aboard! look for SP-5025. That's the basic which was delivered with the MZ-80 K. They are a lot of variants but that one is the original sold with MZ-80 K.

Re: HBLANK (MZ-80A)
And yes, on MZ-80 K schematics, Z80 /WAIT is directly connected to 5V through a pullup. At least, it is clear. For MZ-80 A, just a label /WAIT. It cannot be floating so it lacks at least a circuit mixing /EXWAIT to connect Z80 /WAIT.

Re: HBLANK (MZ-80A)
Usually it is up to the peripheral card to set the /EXWAIT pin, not the GAL. MZ-700 LSI outputs /WAIT but not for $F000-$FFFF so I don't think it is the case for MZ-80A too. The /EXWAIT and /WAIT should have a circuit so it can feed the Z80. But the actual schematics show nothing about the circuit a...
