I was under the impression that using a smart phone and a cassette player connected through the earphones jacks is the way to transfer WAV files and record on a tape. However, I have tried it many times and failed mesroubly. I would appreciate help.

Which machine? let's say it is a MZ-700. If you have MZ-711 (no tape recorder) then you should be able to use external jacks but then you must be aware of the polarity issue, volume issue and quality issue of the external player/recorder. For MZ-721/731 with the internal tape recorder, the external jacks are not connected: you need to disconnect the tape connector and put a connector which has three wires in loop so the READ, WRITE and GND lines are connected to the external lines EXREAD, EXWRITE and GND.

Hi Hlide,
My machine is an MZ-80A. I was trying to make a copy of your RAMTEST program in WAV format. I had a normal cassette player/recorder that I have connected to a smartphone through the earphones to record on a new cassette tape. This has failed repeatedly. I was sent a copy of your program by Ben attached to an email. I hope this clear.

Oh you mean you try to read with the internal one to check memory fault? But as you record the program through an external tape recorder, you fail to read it with the internal one?

Let me see if I can find someone in FB to help you to make that tape.

Hi Ahmed,

I think I sent you a copy of SuperTape 3 as well. Just use this to make new tapes.

Cheers
Ben

Hi again Ahmed,

Sorry, I think I misread your issue. You want to make new tapes from WAV files which you don't already have on a cassette? I still use SuperTape 3 for this purpose but I simply use a car cassette adapter with my 80A and my Windows 10 laptop (presumably smartphone might work too). So I use one of these:

(not that exact one but basically the same)
