MZ700 PSU - magic smoke escaped
MZ700 PSU - magic smoke escaped
Some magic smoke escaped from the PSU of my "new" 700 after teh C2 capacitor exploded. It does not seem to affect the functionality of the PSU. Should I replace it anyway? The same happened to the PSU in my other 700 some years ago, I replaced it just to be safe but maybe I didn't have to.
Re: MZ700 PSU - magic smoke escaped
While I never had that magic smoke - but its strong smell - when I got my MZ-700, I replaced the X2 capacitor because it's still better to have one than none .

It is just filter. It explodes quite often. You should replace it. Even it works without it, is is better to use it, as it filters interference to you house power network.

I will replace the capacitor with a less smelly one Or maybe replace the PSU with a more modern one.
