Sounds like the horizontal synch has failed.
Check test points 13 to 21 on the video board with an oscilloscope, ( see page 40 of the MZ80K Service Manual) and compare with traces on pages 19/20.

I don't currently have one and have never used one... :) , but am very intrigued to give it a go!

You can have up to two analogical signals and up to 16 digital signals recorded through USB on your PC and displayed on you PC screen.
