Star Avenger
Star Avenger
This was the coolest game I had for my MZ-700 back in the day, and when I got back into the MZ some years ago I also had to get hold of Star Avenger. This was not easy, but I finally got hold of someone with a working copy a couple of years ago.
If you haven't played this - it's a fast and very hard Scramble-clone. I spent too much time on this back in the early 80's but never completed it.

Re: Star Avenger
Ahh...
An amazing game I also used a lot of time on this, never manageed to complete all leves.
If I remember, you could choose the starting maze.
Pherhaps it's time to try it out again....

Re: Star Avenger
Wow! Nice graphics!
I'm still amazed how cool games could be on the MZ-700.
I definitively have to test this game this weekend
Seems like it supports the joystick. Maybe about time to convince my dad to send me his. It's not like he is using it.

Re: Star Avenger
I bought the joystick just for this game. Biggest disappointment of my life by then
It's unplayable with joystick, mostly because the MZ joystick clearly is not designed to play games with...

Re: Star Avenger
That looks excellent! Do you think it'd run on the 80A? (And do you have an MZF ?
)

Re: Star Avenger
There is an MZF/MZT attached to the first post.
I don't think it will work correctly on the 80A. I don't have one, but AFAIK the 80A does not have the attribute/colour VRAM that the 700 does.

Re: Star Avenger
Oh sorry, don't know how I missed that attachment!!
I'll check it but usually the 80A just 'ignores' the colour memory reads/writes and the rest of the game could work. It worked okay with Send-1 and Land Escape although the games run a little slower as it's a 2Mhz CPU on the 80A as opposed to the 3.5mhz on the 700. I'll try it and see, thanks!

Re: Star Avenger
Yeah.......... that doesn't work at all ! Worth a try though.
Re: Star Avenger
I've actually just tried this in two different MZ-700 emulators and cannot get the files in the download to work! Not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong but I don't usually have any issues.

Re: Star Avenger
Also, I have this file to add to the Star Avenger topic :
Looks like just a title screen / loader program.
